FE colleges are at the vanguard of m-learning usage. Tutors in many subject areas find its techniques and technologies ideal, particularly with those students for whom traditional learning methods have proved less engaging.

• The three-year Maths4Life research project investigated whether m-learning could engage reluctant learners of numeracy. It resulted in the production of sophisticated m-learning materials, fliers and quizzes, as well as a detailed report. The subject matter – financial literacy – was suggested by the participants in the project, who included family learners, ex-offenders in a community setting, ESOL learners and adult learners
