Each and every person in the world celebrates various kinds of milestones in their lives. The country you live in, the religion you follow, tradition and culture you practice, your status or living conditions and beliefs are the basis for the list of significant events that you will celebrate in your lifetime. The most basic event that every person surely knows and celebrates is their birthday. Every year, the day a person is born is remembered through big or small gatherings. However, when they reach a certain age, some people believe that they’ve achieved certain milestones that are very important. Thus, it should be celebrated in an extra ordinary way.
The very first milestone that people usually commemorate is their first birthday.
Most of the time, regardless of the availability of resources in terms of finances, every parent will look for a way to at least give their child a small celebration. From home cooked meals that are only made on special occasions, a cake or anything sweet where a small candle can be blown is provided. The next special event is the baptism for Catholics or the Dedication day for Christians. They follow a small blessing or ritual, which formally welcomes the child to their community. After which you wait for another seven years when most parents prepare a grand celebration for their child. This signifies that he or she is no longer a baby and is about to enter boyhood/ girlhood. Also, the child enters a higher level in school by this time.
In some countries, a person celebrates his or her thirteenth birthday while others consider sixteen as the age where they can formally be treated and respected as a teen. By this time, most girls and boys start to see different changes physically, emotionally and mentally. After which, a girl will be formally welcomed in society when they turn eighteen as they celebrate their debut. Before, they need to have a former cotillion where there are eighteen special men and women who played a significant role in this person’s life. However, nowadays they’ve innovated the usual traditions into something that is more appropriate with the different changes around us.

The next set of major milestones is as follows, wedding, the birth of the couple child, fiftieth birthday, silver and golden wedding anniversaries, etc. Aside from these important events there are also some individual’s who consider graduating from high school and college, getting their first jobs, getting promoted and retiring as a big part of the important celebrations in every persons lifetime.
